Trois-Rivières, QC, le 8 août 2023 – Marc-Antoine Camirand a connu un week-end parfait au Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, alors que le pilote de l’équipe Paillé Course//Racing a remporté sa première victoire en NASCAR Pinty’s sur le mythique tracé urbain, dimanche. De son côté, Andrew Ranger a démontré beaucoup de vitesse en début de week-end, mais a été pris dans un spectaculaire accident dès le début de la course.
Avant le dernier week-end, Marc-Antoine Camirand détenait déjà le record du plus grand nombre de victoires au GP3R, mais un joyau manquait à sa couronne : la victoire aux tours de la série NASCAR Pinty’s. Il s’est amené au GP3R déterminé à récolter cette 15e -et plus importante- victoire.
Camirand a dicté le rythme dès le début du week-end, enregistrant le temps le plus rapide dans les essais de samedi. Il a ensuite poursuivi sur cette lancée : lors de son tour de qualifications, il a effectué un temps canon de 1:06,533, établissant un nouveau record de piste en NASCAR Pinty’s.
Prenant le départ de la pôle position pour Les 60 tours Rousseau Métal, Camirand a fait son arrêt pour le ravitaillement en essence au 11e tour, et a par la suite regagné les positions alors que les voitures dans le peloton s’arrêtaient également pour faire le plein. Camirand s’est par la suite battu pour la tête, regagnant la première place au 35e tour. Il n’a plus jamais regardé derrière.
« Je suis tellement content de finalement remporter cette course, devant ma famille, mes partenaires, mes amis et tous les partisans. La foule est incroyable ici. J’ai remporté plusieurs victoires ici, mais celle-ci est certainement l’une des plus importantes », a mentionné le pilote de la Camaro GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n° 96.
« Mon équipe chez Camirand Performance a travaillé très fort, et je savais que nous pouvions accomplir de grandes choses. Je suis très heureux pour toute mon équipe, nous attendions cette victoire depuis longtemps », a conclu Camirand, qui a connu un week-end parfait, avec le tour le plus rapide en essais, la pôle position -et record de piste-, et la victoire.
Son coéquipier chez Paillé Course//Racing Andrew Ranger démontrait lui aussi beaucoup de vitesse en début de week-end. Quatrième en essais et troisième en qualifications, le pilote, quatre fois vainqueur au GP3R, avait de bons espoirs de connaître une bonne course.
« Avec un début de saison difficile, et les dernières courses ici au GP3R qui ont également été mouvementées pour moi, j’espérais seulement une course sans trop d’embûches afin de terminer la course », a indiqué Ranger.
Malheureusement, il a été impliqué bien malgré lui dans un violent accident au premier tour de la course. Sa Camaro GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n° 27 a subi d’importants dommages lorsqu’elle a été heurtée par l’arrière dans la courbe numéro deux, lorsqu’un compétiteur a éprouvé des problèmes importants de freins. L’autre voiture s’est alors envolée dans les airs en percutant la voiture de Ranger, et les deux ont terminé leur course dans le mur de pneus.
« C’est très décevant de terminer comme ça. Je ne pouvais rien faire, j’étais au mauvais endroit au mauvais moment. C’est dommage, car mon équipe avait travaillé très fort afin que nous soyons rapides, et maintenant, la voiture a beaucoup de dommages », a conclu Ranger.
Paillé Course//Racing sera de retour en action la semaine prochaine, alors que la série NASCAR Pinty’s se dirige vers l’ovale sur terre battue du Ohsweken Speedway, en Ontario, pour deux courses en deux soirées, les 14 et 15 août.

Trois-Rivières, QC, August 8, 2023 – Marc-Antoine Camirand had a perfect weekend at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, as the Paillé Course//Racing driver claimed his first victory on this mythic street course in the NASCAR Pinty’s series, last Sunday. Andrew Ranger showed great speed early in the weekend but was caught in a spectacular accident at the beginning of the race.
Prior to this weekend, Marc-Antoine Camirand already held the record for most victories at GP3R, but one was missing to his crown: the NASCAR Pinty’s series 60-lap race. When he arrived at GP3R, he was determined to get his 15th victory, and definitely his most important one.
Camirand set up the pace early in the weekend, posting the fastest lap during Saturday’s practice session. And he carried that speed at the end of the day: during his qualifying lap, he scored a blistering time of 1:06,533, setting a new track record in NASCAR Pinty’s.
Starting from pole in Les 60 tours Rousseau Métal, Camirand pitted for fuel at lap 11 and managed to climb back positions as the field also took fuel a few laps later. Camirand then battled for first place, finally regaining the lead on lap 35. He then never looked back.
“I’m so happy to win this race in front of my whole family, my sponsor, my friends, all the fans. The crowd here at GP3R is incredible. I had won here before, but this is definitely the most important victory here”, said the driver of the GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°96 Camaro.
“My team at Camirand Performance has been working very hard and I knew we could achieve great things. I’m so happy for the whole team, we had been waiting for this victory, here, for a long time”, concluded Camirand, who had a perfect weekend with the fastest lap in practice, the pole position -and track record-, and the win.
His Paillé Course//Racing teammate Andrew Ranger was also showing great speed early in the weekend. Fourth in practice and third in qualifying, the four-time GP3R winner was hoping for a good race.
“I had a difficult beginning of the season, and the last few races here at GP3R had also been disappointing. I was just hoping for a clean race and a good result,” said Ranger.
Unfortunately, he was caught in a violent accident in the first lap of the race. His GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°27 Camaro sustained heavy damage when it was hit from behind in turn two after a competitor lost his brakes. The other car went airborne, and both vehicles ended up in the tire barrier.
“It is very disappointing. There is nothing I could do to avoid this. I was at the wrong place at the wrong time. It’s a shame, because my team had worked hard on the car to be quick this weekend, and now it’s heavily damaged,” concluded Ranger.
Paillé Course//Racing will be back in action next week, as the NASCAR Pinty’s series heads to Ohsweken Speedway dirt track, for two races in two nights on August 14 and 15.
