Mirabel, QC, le 28 août 2023 – Marc-Antoine Camirand a remporté sa quatrième victoire de la saison, samedi, alors que Paillé Course//Racing était en action en série NASCAR Pinty’s au Circuit ICAR de Mirabel. Andrew Ranger a également récolté un bon résultat avec une sixième place.
Marc-Antoine Camirand était confiant qu’il pouvait bien faire sur le nouveau tracé du Circuit ICAR, situé sur le tarmac de l’aéroport de Mirabel. Sa Camaro GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n° 96 s’est montrée rapide toute la journée, alors que le pilote a enregistré le deuxième temps des essais, puis la pole position sur le circuit routier de 2,295 km.
Dès le début de la course de 55 tours, Camirand a imposé un rythme très rapide, mais était talonné par Alex Tagliani, qui a pris la tête de la course au 20e tour.
« Nous nous sommes vraiment battus très fort, comme dans une course de kart. Je crois que nous poussions tous les deux nos voitures à leurs limites. C’était une course très excitante, mais épuisante. Je crois que ma voiture en avait encore un petit peu plus que la sienne lorsque j’ai fait une manœuvre pour le dépasser, mais nous nous sommes vraiment bien battus tout au long de la course », a commenté Camirand
Lorsque Camirand a effectué la manœuvre de dépassement pour la tête dans le virage numéro un, l’arrière de sa voiture a dérapé, entrant en contact avec Tagliani, qui est parti en tête-à-queue.
« Je suis entré dans le virage un peu trop fort. Je voulais faire une tentative de dépassement, mais je n’avais aucune intention de le sortir. Tout de suite après la course, je suis allé le voir pour m’expliquer et m’excuser. Ça fait partie des courses, mais j’aurais aimé continuer cette bataille jusqu’à la fin », a mentionné Camirand, qui a repris la tête avec quatre tours à faire.
Camirand a ainsi récolté sa quatrième victoire de la saison, et est maintenant trois-en-trois pour les courses disputées au Québec, alors qu’il avait gagné à l’Autodrome Chaudière et au Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières.
Son coéquipier chez Paillé Course//Racing, Andrew Ranger, a lui aussi connu une bonne course, après avoir été forcé à repartir de l’arrière au début de la course. Ranger a réussi à se tailler une place dans le top-10, et il se trouvait en bonne position lorsqu’il a effectué son arrêt pour le ravitaillement en essence, lors d’une pause planifiée au tour 39.
« Après la pause, j’ai continué de pousser pour rejoindre le top cinq, sachant que je n’aurais pas de souci pour l’essence, et que d’autres compétiteurs avaient choisi de ne pas ravitailler de leur côté », a raconté Ranger.
Sa Camaro GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n° 27 a croisé le drapeau à damiers en sixième place. « C’est un bon résultat, et nous espérons de faire encore mieux la semaine prochaine lors du dernier circuit routier de la saison, au Canadian Tire Motorsport Park », a conclu Ranger.
Paillé Course//Racing sera de retour en action le week-end prochain, alors que Marc-Antoine Camirand et Andrew Ranger seront au Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, près de Bowmanville, ON, pour l’avant-dernière course de la saison 2023 en série NASCAR Pinty’s.

Strong Sixth Place Finish for Ranger
Mirabel, QC, August 28, 2023 – Marc-Antoine Camirand clinched a fourth victory this season, last Saturday, as Paillé Course//Racing was in action in the NASCAR Pinty’s series at the Circuit ICAR in Mirabel. Andrew Ranger also achieved a strong result with a sixth-place finish.
Marc-Antoine Camirand was confident that he could achieve a good result on the new layout of Circuit ICAR, located on the Mirabel airport tarmac. His GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°96 Camaro showed great speed the whole day, as Camirand posted the second-quickest time in practice session, then scored the pole on the new 2,295 kilometers layout of this road course.
From the beginning of the 55-lap race, Camirand had a very fast rhythm, but was challenged by Alex Tagliani, who took the lead at lap 20.
“We really raced hard, just like a fast-paced go-kart race. I think we both pushed our cars to their limits. It was a very fun, though exhausting race for me. I think that my car had a little something left at the end when I made the move to pass him, but we really both battled very hard the whole race”, told Camirand.
When Camirand made the move for the win in turn one, the rear end of the car slid and he made contact with Tagliani, who spun.
“I entered corner one a little too hard, I wanted to make a move for the first place, but I had no intention of spinning him. Right after the race, I went to speak with him and apologize. It’s part of racing, but I would have liked to continue this high-paced battle with him until the end”, stated Camirand, who took back the lead with four laps to go.
Camirand earned his fourth win of the season and is three-in-three for victories on Quebec’s soil, as he claimed wins at Autodrome Chaudière and the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières.
His Paillé Course//Racing Andrew Ranger also had a strong race, after being forced to move to the back of the pack at the beginning of the race.
Ranger fought his way to the top-10 in this fast-paced race and was in a good position when he pitted for fuel at lap 39 in a scheduled one-minute break.
“After this break, I continued pushing to make my way to the top five, knowing that I had no worries with fuel, and that some other cars in front of us had to save fuel because they stayed out at the break”, said Ranger.
His GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°27 Camaro crossed the checkered flag in sixth place. “It’s a good result, and we hope to make even better next weekend at the last road course race of the season, at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park”, concluded Ranger.
Paillé Course//Racing will be back in action next weekend, as Marc-Antoine Camirand and Andrew Ranger head to the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, near Bowmanville, ON, for the penultimate event in 2023 of the NASCAR Pinty’s series.
