Toronto, ON, le 16 juillet 2023 – Paillé Course//Racing a réalisé un double top-cinq, vendredi, alors que la série NASCAR Pinty’s était dans les rues de Toronto, en marge du Honda Indy. Marc-Antoine Camirand a fait une spectaculaire remontée afin de terminer sur le podium après des ennuis en qualifications, alors qu’Andrew Ranger a complété sa course avec un premier top-cinq cette saison.

La journée n’avait pourtant pas bien débuté pour l’équipe GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°96. Marc-Antoine Camirand avait complété seulement deux tours en essais, lorsqu’une pièce de la suspension arrière s’est brisée sur la voiture, causant des dommages considérables à l’arbre de transmission. L’équipe Camirand Performance a ainsi passé toute la durée de la séance combinée d’essais et de qualifications à réparer la voiture, qui n’a pas pu être prête à temps afin d’enregistrer un tour de qualification.

Dix-huitième sur la grille de départ, Camirand a œuvré à remontrer rapidement le peloton dans la course de 35 tours. Autour de la mi-course, il avait atteint le top-cinq, sa voiture Camaro GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°96 étant alors la plus rapide en piste. Il a par la suite rapidement rattrapé l’écart avec les meneurs. « Je roulais troisième, et je m’attendais à ce que Kevin (Lacroix, alors deuxième) fasse une manœuvre pour prendre la tête. J’aurais alors saisi l’opportunité moi-même, mais l’occasion n’est jamais venue. J’avais une voiture très rapide à la fin de la course », a indiqué Camirand.

Camirand a finalement réalisé un podium bien mérité. « Mon équipe a travaillé extrêmement fort toute la journée afin que la voiture puisse rouler lors de la course, et j’avais une très bonne voiture tout au long de la course. Nous sommes extrêmement contents de ce retour en force », a conclu Camirand, qui a réalisé son meilleur résultat en NASCAR Pinty’s à Toronto.

Son coéquipier chez Paillé Course//Racing, Andrew Ranger, a également connu une bonne course, laissant la malchance du début de saison derrière lui. Enregistrant le tour le plus rapide en essais et deuxième en qualifications, Ranger était confiant que sa Camaro GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°27 pourrait être en mesure de se battre pour la tête, alors qu’il compte trois victoires à son actif dans les rues de Toronto en NASCAR Pinty’s.

« Ma voiture était rapide et je me suis bien battu avec Tagliani pour la tête de l’épreuve. Autour de la mi-course, j’ai commencé à avoir des problèmes de frein. À la fin de l’épreuve, j’éprouvais vraiment de la difficulté avec mes freins et j’étais en mode survie », a indiqué Ranger.

Il a finalement rallié l’arrivée en cinquième place, sa meilleure performance de la saison. « J’ai connu un début de saison très difficile. Cette fois-ci, je savais que j’avais une voiture rapide capable de se battre pour la tête, et je suis heureux de ce top-cinq », a conclu Ranger.

Paillé Course//Racing, avec Marc-Antoine Camirand et Andrew Ranger, revient en action dès le week-end prochain, alors que la série NASCAR Pinty’s entame son voyage dans l’Ouest canadien samedi, au Edmonton International Raceway.

Double Top-Five for Camirand and Ranger

Toronto, ON, July 16, 2023 – Paillé Course//Racing achieved a brilliant double top-five finish, Friday, as the NASCAR Pinty’s series was on the streets of Toronto, as part of the Honda Indy event. Marc-Antoine Camirand made a spectacular come back to achieve a podium finish after trouble in qualifying, while Andrew Ranger rounded off his race with a fifth-place finish.

The day didn’t start smoothly for the GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°96 team. Marc-Antoine Camirand completed only two laps in practice, when a piece of the rear suspension broke on his car, causing sustainable damage to the driveshaft. The Camirand Performance team then spent the entire time remaining in the combined practice and qualifying session to repair the car, and fell sort to get the car back on track in time to post a qualifying lap.

18th on the grid, Camirand managed to climb back positions quickly in the 35-lap race. Around mid-race, he had climbed to the top five and his GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°96 Camaro was the fastest car on the track. He then quickly closed up the gap between the leaders. “I was sitting third, and I was waiting for Kevin (Lacroix, in second place) to make a move. I would have taken the opportunity myself, but it never happened. My car was really fast at the end of the race,” stated Camirand.

Camirand finally scored a well-deserved podium finish. “My crew worked extremely hard all day to get my car rolling for the race and I had a very good car throughout the 35 laps. We are really happy of this great comeback,” concluded Camirand, who achieved his best finish at the Toronto race in the Pinty’s series.

His Paillé Course//Racing teammate, Andrew Ranger, also had a strong outing, finally leaving hard luck behind. Fastest in practice and second in qualifying, he was confident that his GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°27 Camaro could battle for the win, as he had won three times before in the streets of Toronto in the NASCAR Pinty’s series.

“My car was very fast and I had a great battle with Tagliani for the lead. Around mid-race, I started to experience brake problems. At the end of the race, I was really struggling with my car and I was just trying to survive the last few laps,” told Ranger.

He finally scored a fifth-place finish, his best result to date this season. “I’ve had a very difficult beginning of the season. I knew I had a fast car, and I could have battled for the win, but I am still happy with this top-five finish,” concluded Ranger.

Paillé Course//Racing, with Marc-Antoine Camirand and Andrew Ranger, comes back in action as soon as next Saturday at Edmonton International Raceway, as the NASCAR Pinty’s series heads to its annual Western swing.
